ENCR-JRC Training on Cancer Registry Data Coding – Ispra, 5-6 June 2019

Coding topography, morphology and stage.
The aim of this course is to support data coding for European cancer registries by describing the corresponding international classifications and their principles for implementation. At the end of the course, participants should:

a.       be familiar with commonly used cancer coding systems and some of the difficulties in applying these;

b.      be confident in coding difficult cases, especially haematological and some rare malignancies;

c.       be aware of some online resources facilitating the coding of cancer cases and the JRC-ENCR Quality Checks software for consistency of codes.

The course is intended for the cancer registry staff involved in coding and processing coded data.   Some familiarity with registration practices, with the ICD-O-3 coding system and with UICC/AJCC staging manual is assumed.

The course will have a number of interactive and individual exercises which may be followed by a general discussion.

The training will be on 5-6 June. The language of the training will be English.

Participation in the training is free of charge but the number of participants is limited.

The registration will be done in a three-step process:

  • application to the course
  • selection of participants
  • registration

Selection of participants. If the number of requests will exceed the number of places available, preference will be given to:

  1. applicants affiliated with a ENCR cancer registry
  2. a single applicant per Organisation
  3. date of application received

Applicants will be notified of the decision the latest by 15 April 2019.

 

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

The Joint Research Centre will sponsor the 2019 ENCR-JRC Training on Cancer Registry Data Coding, covering the organisation, venue, coffee breaks and lunch. A limited budget is available for financial support to cover for travel and/or accommodation. Support may be requested by filling in the respective Section in the application form.

If the number of requests for financial support will exceed the available budget, preference will be given to:

  1. applicant affiliated with a ENCR cancer registry
  2. applicant is coming from a lower-income country
  3. a single applicant per Organisation
  4. date of application received

Applicants will be notified of the decision the latest by 15 April 2019.
