FG IV - Scientific Project Officer – Public health data analyst
The current vacancy is with the Disease Prevention Unit of the Directorate for Health and Food, supporting EU policies in public health for promoting excellence and equality of healthcare in all Member States. The Unit addresses the following areas: health information on cancer and rare diseases, healthcare quality, and health promotion and prevention of non-communicable diseases.
The Unit is looking for an epidemiologist with expertise in information technology for its Cancer Information team, to provide scientific and technical support to the European Cancer Information System (ECIS). Support to, and cooperation with the ENCR will be a key aspect towards improving the quality, reliability and comparability of cancer data.
The comparison of data via epidemiological analysis will be used to steer public health policy making and will provide an evidence base for understanding the effectiveness of cancer diagnosis, treatment and follow-up. The jobholder will also be in direct contact with the European cancer registries to provide them with the necessary support for contributing to the ECIS, as well as with different stakeholders for linking cancer data with other databases, tools and services to increase exploitation of cancer information.
